Casa d'Areny-Plandolit
The Casa d'Areny-Plandolit is one of the most significant cultural attractions in Ordino. This historic manor house dates back to the 17th century and was once the residence of the wealthy Areny-Plandolit family, who played a crucial role in Andorra's history. The house has been preserved as a museum, showcasing a rich collection of artifacts, furniture, and art that provide insights into the life of the Andorran aristocracy. Visitors can explore the grand dining room, the library filled with antique books, and the private chapel. The house also offers a glimpse into the political influence of the family, especially through the figure of Guillem d'Areny-Plandolit, who was instrumental in the drafting of the 1866 New Reform, a key moment in Andorran governance. Secret discovery: Restoration revealed a hidden chapel crypt containing 18th-century liturgical vestments. The library's "false" bookshelf conceals an original iron strongbox from the 1702 family treasury.
