Privacy & Cookies
Last updated: 15 Jan 2026
Traveller Guide is an editorial travel website. We do not require user accounts to read our content. This notice explains how personal data may be processed when you visit the site and how cookies/similar technologies are used.
1) Responsible
Controller: Compass Design e.U.
Address: Dionysius-Andrassy-Straße 6/3, 1190 Vienna, Austria
Email: office@traveller-guide.com
2) What data we process
When you access our website, our hosting/server infrastructure may process technical information such as: IP address, date/time of request, accessed pages (URL), referrer, browser/device information (user-agent), language settings, and security/diagnostic events (e.g., to prevent abuse).
If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide (your email address, message content, and any data you include) in order to respond.
3) Purposes & legal bases
We process personal data for: (a) website delivery, stability, and security (legitimate interests), (b) responding to inquiries (legitimate interests and/or steps prior to a contract, depending on context), and (c) optional analytics and advertising technologies only if you consent (where enabled).
You can manage or withdraw consent at any time via Cookie settings.
4) Hosting
Hosting provider: World4You Internet Services GmbH, Wolfgang-Pauli-Straße 2, BT3, 4020 Linz, Austria.
5) Cookies & similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies can include local storage or comparable identifiers. In Austria/EU, optional cookies (e.g., analytics/advertising) generally require consent, while strictly necessary storage can be used to provide the service (for example, to remember your cookie choice). You can manage preferences at any time in Cookie settings.
6) Our cookie categories
Strictly necessary (always on): We store your consent choice so the website can remember it (for example, the first-party cookie tg_consent). This is required for core functionality.
Analytics (optional): Used to understand traffic and improve the site. We only activate analytics if you opt in. If we enable Google Analytics in the future, typical cookies may include _ga and _ga_* (durations are defined by the provider; commonly up to 2 years).
Advertising / marketing (optional): Used to display ads and measure ad performance. We only activate advertising tags if you opt in. We plan to use Google AdSense, but it is not active at this time. When enabled, Google and its partners may store/read identifiers (cookies or similar technologies) to deliver and measure ads; cookie names and durations are provider-defined.
7) Google AdSense (planned)
We intend to use Google AdSense in the future. Before we activate AdSense for EEA/UK/Switzerland visitors, we will ensure that consent collection and signaling meets Google’s requirements (including the use of an appropriate consent solution where required). Until AdSense is activated, no AdSense tags should be loaded by our website.
8) Recipients & international transfers
We use service providers to operate the website (hosting). If you enable analytics/advertising in the future, relevant providers may receive data required to deliver those services. Depending on the provider, processing may occur outside the EEA. Where applicable, recognized transfer mechanisms may be used (e.g., adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses).
9) Retention
Server logs are retained for security and troubleshooting in line with our hosting provider’s configuration (World4You indicates that web server log files are typically stored for around 2 weeks).
Cookie consent information is stored until you change it or for a limited period (commonly 6–12 months, depending on configuration). Contact emails are kept as long as needed to respond and meet legal obligations.
10) Your rights
Depending on your situation, you may have the right to access, rectification, deletion, restriction, data portability, and to object to processing. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time (with effect for the future).
To exercise your rights, contact: office@traveller-guide.com
11) Complaints (Austria)
If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you can lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority: Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, Austria, email: dsb@dsb.gv.at.
12) Updates
We may update this notice to reflect changes in services or legal requirements. The latest version is always published on this page.
